Her informative facts about quiltmaking are presented in a humorous, light-hearted manner meant to entertain, as well as educate, today’s audiences by acknowledging the talents and skills of yesterday’s quilters. the traditional “Quilt Appreciation: How Quilting Makes the Quilt, and “Helen Squire Live!”.
From beginner student to professional quilter, everyone wants to know more about quilting patterns! Helen’s quilting classes (and her quilting books) provide students with patterns for hand quilting, as well as the continuous line quilting patterns useful for machine quilting, including long arm machine quilting. As an experienced quilt teacher, Helen Squire can custom-plan her classes to the needs and skill level (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) of your individual group, guild, retreat, get-together, and/or quilt show and quilt convention. All day workshops, as well as half-day lectures/demonstrations are available. Choose from among five classes on quilting designs, including the more universal “Helen's Hints for Quilting UFOs”, a great crowd-pleaser with active audience participation. Helen Squire is well known for her eight books in the Dear Helen series of quilting patterns. The American Quilter’s Society has released three companion CD-ROMs entitled Create & Print with Helen Squire: Hand & Machine Quilting, Helen’s Print & Use Quilting Patterns and Helen's Mix & Match Quilting Patterns. These CD-ROMs are in response to quilters nationwide asking for additional sizes and reversed repeats of their favorite quilting designs. An entrepreneur since 1973 when Quilt-In: Lessons* Supplies* Designs* by Helen Squire was incorporated, Helen has been an active participant in the growth of the quilt industry as a designer, lecturer, teacher, and television consultant. For the past ten years, she has written Helen’s Hints: Creative Quilting Designs for American Quilter magazine, and is best known for her Dear Helen quilting books - her eighth in the series was recently published - Quilting UFOs with Helen’s Hints.
Now retired from her position as vice-president of sales and marketing for the American Quilter's Society, Helen continues to design, teach and lecture while still maintaining a home and studio in Paducah, Kentucky, Quilt City, USA. A national and international quilt teacher, lecturer, and emcee of quilting events, she is presently booking speaking engagements for 2009-2010 and beyond.
